Curriculum for Grades 5-8

Here is a rough plan for what the students in grades 5-8 will be doing in music class this year.
Grade 5: National Anthem, State of Maine Song, and learning guitar.
Grade 6: Is basically a theater class. Students will learn about the theater and will learn acting techniques. The will perform monologues, 2-person skits and mini plays in the classroom. No student will be required to perform outside the music class. I expect all students to try. They need to show me they are giving their best effort. I am not trying to turn them into performers. I am just trying to teach them some skills to help them if they do need to get up in front of a group to speak.
Grade 7: Students in grade 7 will be learning how to use the iMovie program on their Macbooks. I think they are going to have a good time creating their projects once they learn the ins and outs of the program.
Grade 8: The 8th graders will be writing Maine Studies songs. After that, they will do a unit on Classical Music from the Middle Ages to present day. They will finish the year with Rock music.
